Paddy Mallon, a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society (FRAeS) and a Chartered Engineer (C.Eng), has had a remarkable career in aerospace engineering, marked by several key achievements. Currently, he holds the position of Senior Technical Fellow, Chief Technologist, and Chief Engineer at Spirit AeroSystems in Belfast.
In this role, he leads initiatives in Un-crewed Systems, Hypersonics, plus next-generation aircraft technologies.
With 37 years of experience in "Complex Defence Systems," Paddy Mallon has been instrumental in the conceptual design, detailed design, development, integration, verification, validation, qualification (IVVQ), and manufacture of advanced aerospace systems.
He has served as Chief Engineer on several systems currently in service with the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) and other international entities. His expertise extends to the integration of complex defence systems onto both crewed and un-crewed aircraft, showcasing his versatility and depth of knowledge in the field.
Paddy Mallon has also been a Product Line Manager and Design Authority for a complex defence system product line, emphasising his leadership and strategic planning capabilities. His innovative contributions are highlighted by his role as the inventor on five registered patents, advancing aerospace technology.
His work spans the design of subsonic, transonic, supersonic, and hypersonic defence systems, reflecting his comprehensive understanding of aerodynamics and system integration.
Beyond his technical achievements, Paddy Mallon is an active participant in the aerospace community, having spoken at numerous conferences across the UK, Asia, Europe, and North America.
His contributions to the field are recognised through his involvement with the Royal Aeronautical Society and his membership on the UK MoD Hypersonics Expert Panel, further underscoring his influence and leadership in aerospace engineering
